This stuff has been around for as long as i can remember and still holds up strong. Whenever I feel like i'm going to be sick or feel, well constepated (ewwww), I just grab pepto, lay down and within an hour i'm all better. Tastes a little chalky but still great to me and seems to work the best so far. Very portable as well which is great if you don't have access to the liquid (which I highly recommend).

These tablets worked great for my son, but too many unknowns to feel comfortable. Make sure the child does not have chicken pox or flu before taking. They are hard to remove from plastic packaging and contains saccharin and red dye. The first week of June my nine year old son became sick with a virus going around. He spent a weekend vomiting at all hours of the day and night. The other times he visited the bathroom it was with diarrhea. It got to the point where he slept with a bucket next to his bed, but he was still fearful of going to bed because he did not want to get sick in his sleep. One night after reassuring him that he would not get sick we woke up in the wee hours of the morning due to his brother being sick in bed. A few days later both kids were both vomiting, so we headed to the Pediatrician. This was one week before the end of school. Their Doctor said for me to get Pepto Bismol for my older son and Pedialtye or Gatorade. I spent a good portion of my time at the store reading the labels of the various Pepto-Bismol products and chose the 30 count tablets due to the portability of these as well as listing them for children. I do not feel comfortable buying a product not specified for children, even if a Doctor recommends it. The tablets are about the size of a mint and they do leave the tongue pinkish, although my son enjoyed that end result. Each tablet also has P-B on the center, this would make certain no one would confuse this for candy. We lucked out that my son is nine because the dosage for 9 to under 12 years of age is one tablet. For children over 12 they take 2 tablets. Children 3-6 take 1/3 a tablet with those in the age range of 6-9 having 2/3 of a tablet. You can either chew or let the tablet dissolve in the mouth. My son had no problem chewing the tablet, sometimes having water with it. I did not really pay attention when he first took a tablet on when to take the next one. I was surprised that you can take another dose every 1/2 hour to hour, as needed. There is a limit to eight tablets in any 24-hour period. He liked the taste and was feeling better. He did not have to take another dose for several hours and it was more like a just in case medicine. I had him take one before going to school so he would calm down about having to use the bathroom and raise his hand in time. I am glad that my son only needed to take five tablets, because this is really something I do not want to keep in my medicine closet and would rather toss out. We survived nine years before needing it and I hope we can continue without another episode of vomiting and diarrhea. Pepto-Bismol Chewable Tablets is also known to cause the stool to darken when taking, but I did not consult my son for this type of feedback, just note it may happen in smaller kids and be forewarned.

I don't get too involved with antacids or digestive medicines, lucky I guess. When I get an acid attack or upset stomach, I can usually rely on The Pink Stuff; if the liquid isn't available, these tablets are just as effective. A little chalky, but so what?Fifth star withheld because the packaging sometimes makes it hard to extract just one (you rip open two) or in being careful, you crush the tablet. It might just be my big hands.Fred
