I had never used Mucinex (or any guaifenesin containing product) nor had I ever had bronchitis before. Mucinex was a GODSEND ... it worked like a charm to greatly reduce the need for the extreme hacking to bring up the mucous. One thing I recommend is to NOT use the maximum strength version. Why? Because you can more finely control its effects. It worked pretty quickly for me, and with the regular-strength version you can take 2 tabs every 12 hours. It was fairly easy to know when the last dose was wearing off and it was time to pop a new one. Of course you shouldn't overdose yourself, but I found doing it this way gave me more control and relief. If you're a generally healthy type like me and have no idea how an expectorant might work or help, well ... here's my *experience* (I'm not a doctor!). We have many almost-involuntary small actions that our bodies use to deal with excess mucous. Think sniffles with your nose or a slight clearing-of-the-throat action or even a small occasional cough. Well when you have bronchitis these don't do enough to clear up the problem, so the body calls out the big guns - that horrible, huge, seemingly-continuous, hacking (so-called "wet") cough. But when you take Mucinex, the smaller actions now actually work to get rid of the mucous! It is still coming up (you know because, well, you *taste* it. I know - gross) but you only need smallish coughs or lots of clearings-of-the-throat to get the job done. And, depending on how bad your mucous problems are, some of these smaller mucous control actions can take place even while you are asleep. Wonderful, wonderful relief! Having bronchitis was a horrible experience that I hope is never repeated. It has left me with a new respect and admiration for those who are chronic sufferers but yet still seem to live normal lives.

I use Mucinex to reverse the symptoms of Fibromyalgia according to Dr. St. Amand's protocol. It is very effective, and many have already had great results. Warning--the use of Mucinex alone will not reverse FM symptoms, the entire protocol must be followed exactly to get the desired results. I highly recommend.

My husband uses this product to reduce the amount of mucous in his lungs. He is an asthmatic and takes a combination of prescription medications for this condition. Mucinex compliments those prescription medications and makes a significant difference for him. He has tried other mucous reducing medications (all non-prescription), but Mucinex provides him with the most benefit. He coughs much less and is far more comfortable when taking Mucinex. We are grateful for this product and can purchase it much less expensively on Amazon than in stores. Thank you.
