How to curl hair with a straightener
If you don’t curl your hair very often, you may think that it is not worthwhile to invest in a high quality curling iron. However, if you do use a straightener on your hair, you can also use it to flip or curl your hair! Here are some tips on how to use a hair straightener to flip and curl your hair.
If you want to add some style and volume to your straight hair, flipping your hair is simple. Take a one inch section of your hair and start from the root like you would when straightening your hair. Instead of running the iron straight down though, flick your wrist toward your hair, start pulling the straightener up, and continue to move the iron in half circle shape.
Curling your hair with a straightener requires a little more technique. Take a one inch section of hair and start at your scalp. Clamp the iron down about 1 inch above where you want your curl to start. Run the straightener down the section of hair while rotating the iron. The rotation of the straightener will mold you heated hair into curls. The size and style of your curls will depend on how much hair you curl at one time. If you curl larger sections of hair, the curls will be soft and wave-like while if you use small sections of hair, the curls will be tighter. After you are done styling, spray some hairspray in to hold your curls.
