I've had this bonnet hair dryer for over a year and it still works great. I have really frizzy hair, and the only way I can get rid of the frizz is to put my hair in big curlers and sit under a bonnet hair dryer. I haven't had a problem with it being too short - the pole extends pretty high. Having it on castors is really helpful for moving it around. In addition, it has holes all around the bonnet, so the air doesn't all come out at one place and get that part of your head too hot.

I just purchased this dryer and was very disappointed with how short it is. I can not sit comfortably in a chair and fit under the dryer, I have to lean back and under the unit (and I am short). It could use another 6 inches to a foot in height to make it more practical. The quality seems okay, though, and it was easy to assemble.

I've recently experienced a very expensive flat iron so I was in the mindset to think that only a very expensive blow dryer would do. However, like the informed consumer that I am, I did my research online as to which dryer was the best. From what I read, this dryer performed very well against others on the market and was second only to the T3 dryer that cost over $300. When it really came down to it, there were no specifics as to what made the T3 better. Since this was around $30, I thought I'd try it. I didn't need the dryer to do many things. I style my hair with heat (flat iron) so I blow dry on "warm" only. I do not style with the dryer anymore, only to dry it and give it a little volume. Perhaps my previous dryers are to blame for my clumsiness with the dryer (on myself). When I'm doing other people's hair, no problem, but on my own head, the dryer always felt foreign and positioned incorrectly. This dryer changed my whole outlook. It drys my hair really fast from just showered (I rarely bother to towel dry the way "they" say I should) and is SO lightweight! My arms are not sore from lifting the round brush UP, AWAY from my head, and twirl, twirl. I can switch hands when I dry the other side of my head instead of ending up with one side that is bouncy and fresh and one side that didn't get the right direction of TLC. I will never use the diffuser on myself so I can't say how that works. The other one, the focus? Narrow thing? Is great. Even on "warm" it takes less time to dry my waist-long hair than my other dryer on "hot." It is so quick that I don't lose patience and give up. I'm not a hair person and I want results QUICK. I used to dread washing my hair because of blow drying after. This changed my whole perspective.

The dryer works well and is reasonably priced, but the controls are placed so that when you wrap your hand around the dryer it is practically impossible not to touch them and either get a different setting or turn the dryer off. In my opinion, it should be back to the drawing board to design better placement of the contols.

I got this dryer this week and used it a few times. It is not so noisy as others have said. Sounds more like a blender on low. The rocker controls are in exactly the right place for me because you can finish with a shot of cool air without taking the dryer away from your hair. It dries faster than my expensive ionic dryer and my hair looks and feels different, too....softer, shinier and styled the way I like it. If this dryer lasts a long long time, and keeps doing what it is supposed to do, I would say it is almost perfect. I just wish it was a bit smaller since I found it in a 'travel dryer' search.

I decided to try an inexpensive hair dryer for the first time since money was tight, and now I really regret it. I have very thick long hair and it took the hair dryer much longer to dry my hair than my old one. After a couple uses I noticed the smell of burning hair and thought maybe it was a little too hot but my hair seemed fine so I didn't really worry about it. Then I began to notice after I showered and started to comb my wet hair a lot more hair than normal was falling out. It was falling out in thick strands which has never happened to me before. I thought maybe it was stress or horomones since I recently had a baby but the more I used the dryer I realized the intense heat was burning off and damaging my hair! Even now that I've stopped using it my hair is still fragile from the dryer and still comes out in clumps after I shower. Please stay away from this dryer! I'm glad mine never shot sparks like the other reviews I saw but it doesn't surprise me.

On the 5TH DAY of use EVER, this drier burned off a WHOLE SECTION of my hair! I smelled burning and turned off the drier, ran my hand over my hair and the whole section fell to the floor! The hairs were scorched and melted together. My hairdresser always comments on the great health of my long hair, I've never processed it, I never even get split ends, so that's not even an issue here. I bought this drier because my last Revlon drier was great. Never again! I've complained to Revlon, still waiting to hear from them.

Loved that it had three heat settings and two speeds. Did what a dryer was suppose to do. However, it is a bit noisy and it crapped out on me pretty quickly. From other reviews, I would say don't buy it if you want a hair dryer that lasts more than a year to two years max.

This dryer has the irritating feature of automatically shutting off long before I'm finished using it; it can only then be turned back on a few minutes later. Perhaps it's an inherent safety feature to prevent it from overheating, but even if so shouldn't it be designed to not overheat until it goes well past normal usage? Don't waste your money.

Great! Now I won't have to buy a new hair dryer for my wife and daughter for a long time!

Posted: Jan 2 2008
It's true. I bought this for my Mom after I've had one for 12 years. My Mom's old one finally broke and she's had it for 22 years. These things are the tanks of the industry. Yes, its expensive but unlike crappy cheap dryers, this one will NEVER get too hot and fry your hair. When I go to my sister's house and have to use her awful little drugstore dryer, it just keeps getting hotter & hotter and has no power at all--UGH! The SS is the Mercedes Benz of hair dryers. I love it. Did I say that already? I'll say it again, LOVE IT!

Terrific product. Extra long cord. Seemed heavy at first, but handles easily. I have been blow drying for over 20 something years, best dryer I have ever owned. LOVE IT........my best friend wanted me to get her one after my rave review. Makes your hair super shiny and smooth.

I am super picky about my hair dryers. And while this is not the best one I've ever had (my favorite was an 1875 watt Helen of Troy Professional that died several years ago), it's not bad. Unfortunately, in this day and age, the only dryers I can seem to find are ionic ones. For me ionic dryers = flat hair. So, with the choices so limited, this dryer is decent. I wish it had slow fan speed with high heat, but I can't be too choosy at this point.

The Conair Blackbird is the best non-professional hair dryer out there. Multiple settings and 2000 watts make for fast drying without burning!

I like this dryer because it is strong and gets hair dried fast and helps staighten my wavy hair more than most others. This model is used at a very exclusive $alon in downtown Chicago that I've been to. My only complaint is that the dryer is heavy to handle and hold at angles. Yet the price is right. The lighter ones all seem to be over $100! Recommended.
