Black frame eye glasses are more popular than ever

If you haven’t noticed yet, black frame eye glasses are in. Really in. Thick frames are everywhere, you would have to be blind not to notice them! Bad joke? It used to be all about thin framed glasses but the full framed Buddy Holly look from the 50′s is back in full force. Whether they are prescription glasses or just for show, black frame eye glasses are very popular these days.

Back in the day, thick framed, square glasses used to only be worn by the nerds. So often in movies was there a piece of white tape right in the middle of each frame holding the glasses together. This look came back with a vengeance over the last few years, making it finally cool to wear thick frames. It’s not only popular in just America either, many other countries have caught on and everyone is wearing big, thick black framed eyeglasses.

Many people are wearing them just for the look, and they don’t even have prescription lenses in them. This may seem strange but this is the current trend. It seemed like back when we were kids, no one wanted to have glasses, they were “uncool” to have. Now, whoever is “lucky” enough to need glasses gets to choose from very fashionable and stylish frames. Even the people who don’t have bad vision are trying to do the same as well!

There are many thinner frames that are quite sleek for people who don’t want that Buddy Holly look. These are also very popular, especially with people who do not want very large lenses. They have a bit classier look to them than the bigger framed glasses do. Black frames are the way to go, all you have to decide is how big you really want your glasses to be!

Which eyeglasses are best for my face?

Faces come in a variety of shapes, but when it comes to picking out the style of glasses that fit your face the best, it will be sufficient to only distinguish between the three most basic face shapes: square, oval, and oblong.

Oval face: has a jaw that is slightly narrower than the forehead, high cheekbones, and, in general, it has a softer appearance than a square face. An oval face is like a more feminine version of a square face, so the eyeglasses that will work best for this face are black-framed eyeglasses. As round glasses offset the angularity of the square face, angular glasses offset the roundness of the oval face.

Square face: is angular with a strong jaw line, broad forehead, and a square chin. The length and width of the face are usually proportional in square faces, but not always. To offset the angularity of the square face, oval and round frames work best.

Oblong face: is taller than it is wide with a tall forehead (aka a fivehead), high cheekbones, and typically a strong jaw line. Because oblong faces are tall, they tend to look best with larger frames that give the impression that the face is short. Also, broad frames with a top rim will add width to the narrowness of the oblong face.
