I went into this one skeptical but was surprised. I started by taking 100 mg at night, and was shocked to have the first night of 9 hours of unbroken sleep that I've had in a long, long time. Which was great but I noticed it made me groggy throughout the next day. So I decided to half the dose and that's where I've been now for over a week. Very good sleep still, but no grogginess the next day. Rather than a groggy feeling it's more of a nice calm feeling with the 50 mg amount. I recently quit coffee and thought that that would take care of my anxiety problem, and it did to an extent ... maybe 70%, nevertheless, there was still some anxiety. With the stopping of coffee and the 50 mg of 5-HTP every night, I feel I've taken care of about 85% of my anxiety issues ... which had a lot more to do with my depression than I had originally thought. Sleep is extremely important, and if you're having trouble falling asleep then taking an amino acid like 5-HTP is a much healthier approach to dealing with the problem than taking kava kava, valerian root, or any of the host of drugs from big pharm. As a side note, if I'm feeling particularly tired in the morning I take some Rhodiola Rosea (Rhodax), and that is a good healthy way to get the day going, might also be something you want to check out. So, all in all, I give this product at least 4 stars, but it's helping me sleep so it's going to get all 5. I wish you the best of luck in finding what works for you too.

Now 5-HTP I have found that I sleep best when I take two of these, i.e. 100 mg. Please be advised that 5-HTP can cause very vivid dreams which might be disturbing to some people. I don't mind them given the trade off, a better night's sleep Recommended for people who want an alternative to a prescription sleeping pill. NOW has a new product with L-Tyrosine that you might want to try. See [[ASIN:B00029F5G8 5-HTP with L-Tyrosine (200mg) 60 vcaps5-HTP with L-Tyrosine (200mg) 60 vcaps Be sure to consult with your medical doctor before talking this or any other supplement It takes about a week for the 5-HTP to build up in your body, if you're not better after 5-7 days you might want to increase the dosage Gunner July, 2009

At first these worked great. My anxiety and fears were gone... then slowly these pills started to make me feel nauseous. I stopped taking them. Then this morning I decided to take them and I FEEL HORRIBLE. I feel sick to my stomach and I feel like I'm going to vomit. Worse feeling ever. I am never taking these again.
